Affiliate Codes

An affiliate code is your referral code for Mayhem itself. You create the code, share it with someone who is thinking about selling on Mayhem, and when they sign up and pay for a seller plan, you earn a commission on that payment. Your code can also give the seller who claims it a discount on their own plan, so the same code is both your referral link and their offer.

This is separate from selling your own products. Affiliate commission is Mayhem paying you for bringing another seller to the platform, and it is calculated from their plan subscription, not from anything they sell.

Create Your Code

Open Affiliate Codes in your seller dashboard at /account/affiliates and choose Create affiliate code. Fill in:

Affiliate code: 3 to 64 letters, numbers, and hyphens. Spaces are removed and the code is saved in capitals, so yourname 10 becomes YOURNAME10. This is what you hand out.
Internal name and Public description: the name is for your own records; the description is shown to someone checking the code before they use it.
Your commission: choose a percentage of the plan payment or a flat amount per payment, then set the amount, the Commission timing, and the Commission term (months).
Referred seller discount: optional. Choose a percentage or flat discount and set its timing and term, or leave it at "No discount" if the code is purely a referral code.
Maximum referrals and Expiration date: leave either blank for no limit.

Commission timing decides how long you get paid. "First payment only" earns you one commission the first time that seller pays. "Every payment during term" earns you a commission on each payment inside the term you set, which is where recurring monthly plans add up. A recurring commission always requires a term.

Limits on What You Can Offer

Seller-created codes are capped so an offer cannot outrun what a plan is worth:

Commission of up to 20% of the payment, or up to $10 as a flat amount
Discounts of up to 50%
Commission and discount terms of up to 12 months
Up to 10 active codes at a time

You can pause and reactivate your own codes at any time. If Mayhem suspends a code, only Mayhem can lift that.

Discounts Only Apply to Annual Plans

Mayhem sells four seller plans: Basic Monthly at $5, Basic Annual at $50, Standard Monthly at $10, and Standard Annual at $100. See Compare our Plans for what each one includes.

A discount can only be applied when the referred seller pays for a year up front. The monthly plans are billed through a fixed PayPal subscription price that cannot be reduced, so a seller who chooses monthly billing pays the normal price even if your code offers a discount. The preview in the code editor says so on those rows.

Your commission is unaffected by this. You still earn on monthly plans exactly as your code describes; only the discount half of the offer is unavailable there. If you want a different offer for sellers who pay annually, open Customize for annual plans in the code editor and enter separate annual numbers. Leave it blank to use the same offer everywhere.

Commission is calculated on what Mayhem actually collected, after any discount your code gave. A larger discount means a smaller commission on that payment.

Share the Code

Tell the seller your code and ask them to enter it in any of these places:

The Referral or discount code (optional) field on the seller application form
The referral code field during seller registration
The plan purchase page, before they pay
Your referral code on their own plan page, if they already have an account

A code has to be attached before the payment it should affect. Attaching a code is not retroactive, and a seller account can only ever have one affiliate code attached, so they cannot switch to a different code later without support. You cannot redeem your own code, and neither can anyone who is an admin on your channel.

Track and Get Paid

Your Affiliate Codes page shows Pending, Payable, Paid, and Current balance, plus per-code referral counts and net commission.

A new commission starts as pending and matures after a holdback window, normally 30 days. That window exists because a plan payment can still be refunded. Once an earning is payable it is included in your payout request totals alongside your order and invoice proceeds, and it is marked paid when Mayhem pays that payout. If a plan payment is refunded before the earning matures, the earning is voided; if it is refunded afterward, a reversal is recorded, which can push your balance negative and net against later earnings.

Your reporting never identifies the sellers who used your code. You see counts, amounts, plan types, and status, because referred sellers are other Mayhem customers.

Editing a Code Later

Editing a code changes it for future referrals only. Every seller who already claimed it keeps the terms that were frozen when they attached it, so you can retire an old offer without changing what someone is already owed. If you want a genuinely different offer, create a second code instead of rewriting the first.

If a commission looks wrong or missing, or you need a code detached from an account, contact support with the code and the approximate date.
